Ever get out of an Uber and realize you forgot something in the car as you watch the driver pull away? It happens to the best of us and so often that the ride-sharing company puts out a list of the top items left behind by passengers. Uber’s 10th annual Lost & Found Index has just come out, revealing the most common and most unusual things people have forgotten over the last year.
According to the 2026 Lost & Found Index:
The most commonly-forgotten items during the last year were the ones you’d expect - phones, wallets, luggage, keys, headphones, clothing, passports, glasses, jewelry and laptops.
The “most forgetful” cities for Uber passengers were New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Boston, Atlanta, and Newark, New Jersey.
Sundays are the “most forgetful” day of the week, but the most forgetful day of the whole year was July 17th.
Some of the most bizarre items left behind in Ubers over the last year include a brand new mini fridge, a single red-bottom Louboutin heel, a live fish, a package of live butterflies and a child’s prosthetic eye.
Since this is the 10th annual list, the ride-sharing service also looked back at the 10 most unique items left behind over the past decade, which include a lost lobster in 2017, divorce papers in 2018, 500 grams of caviar in 2022, a live toy poodle in 2023 and a 75-gallon fish tank in 2026.
