Moving in together can be exciting and fun, but after couples have been cohabitating for a while, they often end up bickering about boring stuff around the house. And according to new research, it’s the little things that tend to spark the most arguments.
A new survey of 2-thousand adults who live with their significant other looks at the biggest sources of tension in their households and finds leaving the lights on in unoccupied rooms tops the list.
- Disagreeing about what temperature to leave the thermostat on comes in second, as 41% of women admit they prefer the temperature warmer than their partner does.
- Nearly a third (29%) of women polled claim they have the final say over the thermostat, while only 15% of men say they get to set it.
- Still, 32% of all respondents admit to secretly adjusting the temperature setting when their S.O.isn’t looking.
- The third most common argument is one partner not doing their fair share of the chores.
- But some things are noticed more by women than men, like the slacking on chores, which 21% of women complain their other half does, compared to 15% of men.
- When it comes to settling these common household arguments, 40% of both genders claim they usually reach a compromise, but 29% of men consider themselves to be the winner the majority of the time, and only 5% of fellas say their partner is usually victorious.
- Only 19% of women say they’re the winner most often and 5% of them also say it’s usually their other half.
