Rushing to make a connecting flight on a tight deadline is always stressful, especially if the gate you need is at the other end of the terminal, or even worse, across the airport. But it seems some airports are better than others when time is of the essence because you have a tight connection and a new report reveals where you’re more likely to make that flight and where you’re not.
- Finance Buzz has ranked the Best and Worst U.S. airports for connecting flights.
- The personal finance site’s researchers looked at airport maps and measured distances between the gates at 50 of the busiest airports to find out how long it takes to get from one gate to the other.
- They considered the number of gates on opposite ends of terminals, the distances to the farthest gates in an airport and the need to use transportation, like trams, inside the airport to reach the gate.
- They’ve determined that the worst airport in the U.S. for connecting flights is Denver International Airport, where the longest walk between any two gates is 34 minutes.
- In one terminal there, walking from end to end takes 23 minutes.
- As for the best airport in the country for connecting flights, Richmond International Airport in Virginia tops the list, as the longest walk between two gates there only takes eight minutes.
