Want to live in the safest city in the country? Move to the Northeast. According to a new study from MoneyGeek, seven of the 10 cities with the lowest crime rates per capita are found in the Northeast states in the U.S.
- The research analyzes 1,010 small cities and towns with a population between 30-thousand and 100-thousand, comparing them on last year’s FBI crime stats.
- They looked at everything from violent crimes, like murder and rape, to property crimes, like burglaries and car theft.
- And the research shows that overall, small towns and cities have 48% lower crime costs than bigger cities.
- The safest town in the country is found to be Monroe Township, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City.
