Rolling Stoneâ magazine has come out with their list of the 500 Best Songs of All Time, pickingAretha FranklinâsâRespectâ as the number one choice.
They write that while Otis Redding wrote and recorded the song in 1965, Aretha âtook possession of the song for all time with her definitive cover,â calling it âthe single that established her as the Queen of Soul.â
Coming in just behind âRespectâ is Public Enemyâs âFight The Powerâ at two, and Sam Cookeâs âA Change Is Gonna Comeâ at three.
