A new celebrity-filled take on Billy Joel’s classic “New York State of Mind” has just been released to encourage the Big Apple's recovery from the pandemic.
The cover, produced by NYCNext, features such singers and actors as Sara Bareillis, Idina Menzel, Stephen Colbert, Joan Osborne, Mario Caontone, Andy Cohen, Victoria Clark, Cautious Clay, Chloe Flower, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Susan Vega and more, as well as Billy’s daughter Alexa Ray Joel.
The video was shot at various locations around the city including Birdland, the Brooklyn Museum, Columbia University, NYU, Tom’s Restaurant, the Wonder Wheel in Coney Island and more. All artists donated their time for the video, and Joel lent the organization the rights and permissions to use the song to support the project. Check out the video below
