A woman has discovered a sister she never knew about thanks to a DNA test. Victoria Voorhees grew up knowing she was born in Phoenix, Arizona, her date of birth and that she was adopted when she was two months old. But she didn’t know much else. The 27-year-old wanted to learn more about her heritage, so she took a 23andMe DNA test and the results blew her away.
The ancestry site informed her she has a sibling, and when she saw the photo of her sister, she was shocked because they look so much alike. It turns out, her sister, 28-year-old Alyss Ravae, had been searching for her for years. “My mom told me when I was 9 that I had a biological sister that came from both my same parents, and so I’ve always tried to look for her,” explains Ravae.
Beyond a shared appearance, the sisters also have matching tattoos - both have ankle tattoos of bats. They also share a love of Stephen King, Halloween, hiking trails and both sell pet portraits online. After connecting, Alyss and Victoria are now planning to reunite face-to-face in Chicago.
