Florida Bans Drinking At Bars

Effective immediately bars in Florida are no longer allowed to let people drink on site. Bars can still sell sealed beverages that can be taken off site to drink but people are not allowed to drink in bars right now. This new executive order does not include restaurants that serve alcohol as long as less that 50% of their revenue comes from alcohol consumption on site.

Why is Florida doing this? They had nearly 9,000 new cases of Coronavirus in 1 day. The state has seen more than 24,000 new cases since last Saturday. Officials are saying that the increase in new cases is because of people flocking to bars once they reopened most of the state about a month ago. Officials are also saying that people were ignoring the social distancing guidelines which could have lead to a new outbreak.
