Connecticut Schools to Dismiss Early Due to Monday's Solar Eclipse

In light of recent advisories from the Connecticut Department of Education, some school districts announced that they plan to dismiss early on Monday, April 8th, the day of the solar eclipse. The eclipse, expected from approximately 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., poses a risk of severe eye injury if viewed without specialized equipment.

The decision to send students and staff home early is meant to safeguard their well-being and provide a chance to experience the eclipse with their families under safe conditions. Many after school activities, athletic practices, and games during the eclipse period have also been canceled. Other districts in the state are simply carrying on as normal and telling students not to look up.
