Chloe Talks: Karley's Collection

When the Painted Tree location in Clive suddenly closed its doors, it caught a lot of local business owners off guard. Overnight, dozens of local makers, curators, and vendors lost their storefronts and their momentum.

I recently caught up with Karley Davis, the owner of Karley’s Collection, to talk about what that whirlwind was like and more importantly, how she’s turning a tough situation into something positive.

Instead of waiting around for things to sort themselves out, Karley took action. She’s organized a massive vendor fair at the Iowa Events Center to give these displaced businesses a place to reconnect with customers, rebuild their footing, and get back to doing what they love.

The New Roots Small Business Pop-Up

  • When: Saturday, June 6 | 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Iowa Events Center (EMC Expo Center, Hall C)
  • Cost: Free admission
  • Parking: Free in the Iowa Events Center lots

If you can’t make it out on Saturday, you can still support Karley. She’ll be hitting up local farmers markets throughout the season, and you can keep up with her latest updates on her Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook pages.
