Bad news if you're a New Yorker—apparently, almost 60% of Americans think the New York accent is... annoying. Brutal, I know.
This is all according to a new survey from Podcastle, where they asked 1,000 people which accents they find the most appealing and trustworthy. The results? Americans are 265% more likely to trust someone with a Southern accent over someone from New York. Ouch.
Here are the top five most trustworthy accents, according to the poll:
- British
- Southern (U.S.)
- Scottish
- Australian
- Irish
Luckily for me, Americans find the British accent both the most trustworthy (42%) and the most appealing (46%).
Guess I’ll just go ahead and add “trustworthy and charming” to my resume.
