Connecticut locals know that they have a gem in the glorious 93-acre landscape of the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, Stamford, CT. A soothing getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life, one can stroll among hundreds of trees on a Forest Bathing Walk, which is said to boost immune strength, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function.  But while the trees are offering visitors a relaxing place to boost their health and well-being – who is looking after the health of the tress?

Enter arborists Anna Hernandez Krol, Talia Haik and Meghan Dos Santos who are tasked with caring for the trees from the ground up. From roots to branches to leaves, the women examine and tend to the various needs of the many species of trees on display throughout the arboretum.

The show, produced by Litton Entertainment (a division of Hearst) and Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN Initiative, spotlights diverse, female STEM professionals in an impactful, age-appropriate way to break long-held stereotypes and encourage adolescent girls to pursue STEM careers.

With science front and center during this global health crisis and as STEM professionals emerge as new public heroes; STEM skills, education, and practices will influence every part of society and play a critical role in the trajectory of America’s future. Thus, advancing gender balance in STEM has become even more crucial.
