When 15-year-old Prazel Magar’s dad suffered a seizure this past Saturday while driving on the highway in Florence, Kentucky, the teen acted quickly to save lives. He noticed their vehicle veering out of its lane and realized his father was unconscious with his foot still on the accelerator. To avoid hitting other cars, he quickly grabbed the steering wheel and steered the vehicle off the road.
Although Magar did avoid a collision with another car on the road, their SUV crashed into the fence and building of A Cottage Collection, an outdoor furniture store. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the crash, and the store owner, Ray Imhoff, says he was relieved everyone was safe despite the damage to his business.
The teen says that when his dad regained consciousness, he had no memory of the crash. He’s grateful that he was in the car at the time and plans to practice more driving after recently earning his learner’s permit. Officials say the incident could have been much worse if not for Magar’s actions, and he shares that the experience has helped him appreciate the importance of staying calm in an emergency.
