*LIST* The Most Popular Pet Names & Trends Of 2024

For a lot of us, what we name our pets is a reflection of what’s important to us and people take inspiration from everything from food to sports to pop culture to come up with the perfect name. Rover.com’s 12th annual Top Pet Names report has just been released, revealing the top naming trends for 2024.

The pet site analyzes their database of more than a million pets to find the most popular names and the biggest trends of the year. Here’s what’s been big in pet names in 2024:

  • “It Girl” names are very in for dogs - Thanks to pop culture’s influence, many pups this year have been named Taylor Swift (up 461%), Jisoo (up 361%), Jane Fonda (up 111%), Normani (up 61%) and Beyoncé (up 28%).
  • Celebrities are inspiring dog names - The name Bradley Cooper for pups has skyrocketed 261% this year, while Benny Blanco is up 11% and so is Justin Bieber. And Chandler Bing, in honor of the late actor, Matthew Perry, is up 45%.
  • Food names are also trending for dogs - Calzone, Chive and Provolone have all shot up 211% in dog name popularity this year, while Poutine, Babybel, Pastrami and Tempeh are all up 111%.
  • Boozy names are also big for pooches - This year’s top three dog names inspired by drinks are Prosecco (up 361%), Margarita (up 78%) and Mai Tai (up 74%).
  • Cat owners are taking inspo from celebs, too - Taylor Swift is up 459% as a cat name, while Ivana is up 309% and Halsey is up 159%.
  • Food names are also trending for felines - The top food-inspired cat names of 2024 are Provolone, Casserole, Babybel, Burger and Burrito.
