*LIST* CLASSIC BABY NAMES NOW ON THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION

Trendy baby names go in and out of style, but some seem to stand the test of time, like Elizabeth and Benjamin. While classic names like this aren’t the most popular ones today, they’re still being used by some moms and dads out there. But some once popular names are basically on the verge of disappearing and new research tells us which ones they are.

  • Nameberry has come out with a list of baby names that are on the brink of extinction in the U.S.
  • According to the website devoted to baby names, some of the old school names that were all the rage with the baby boomer generation are basically never used anymore.
  • Using data from the Social Security Administration, Nameberry says these names were only given to between five and 19 babies the last year on record.
  • Topping the list of nearly extinct names for boys is Al, and at its peak, almost 70-thousand babies a year were named Al.
  • For girls, Bess is the top endangered girls’ name, followed by Cathy and Christi.
  • According to a new report from parenting site BabyCenter, modern moms and dads are now naming their little ones after names from hit movies and shows like Chani, played by Zendaya in “Dune: Part Two” and Penelope from “Bridgerton.”
