New Haven man sleeps in restaurant, steals thousands in food and liquor

Quarantine is making people go wild. 42 year old Louis Ortiz of New Haven was arrested after stealing thousands of dollars worth of food and liquor -- during a four day period -- from Soul De Cuba Cafe on Crown Street.

Ortiz was charged with a bunch of things: third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree failure to appear.

New Haven PD got called to the Crown Street restaurant 11:30am on Tuesday, because someone found the man asleep in the restaurant despite it being closed. Ortiz first went to the restaurant on Saturday and helped himself to the restaurant's food and liquor, while also taking some from the restaurant as well, including 70 bottles of liquor.
